# Custom branding and themes

## Steps

### 1. Open the Design tab

Click the **Design** tab in the survey editor. You'll see sections for AI Design Generator, Theme Presets, Colors, Typography & Styles, Streaming & Animation, and Survey Logo with a live preview.

### 2. Use AI Design Generator or theme presets

Describe your desired look and let the AI generate a complete design, or pick from built-in theme presets for a quick start. Both options set colors, fonts, and styles in one click.

### 3. Customize colors and fonts

Set primary and accent colors, choose a font style (system, sans-serif, serif, monospace, rounded), pick a chat bubble style (rounded, square, minimal, modern, none), select an input style (rounded, square, minimal, underlined, bordered), and choose a send button style (rounded, square, circle, pill, minimal).

### 4. Toggle card layout

Use the **Card layout** switch in the Design tab to wrap the survey in a rounded card (the default), or turn it off for an edge-to-edge full-bleed experience. Edge-to-edge is useful for embedded surveys and immersive branded flows.

### 5. Configure streaming and animation

Choose how AI responses appear to respondents: **Raw** (instant display), **Word-by-word**, or **Letter-by-letter**. Customize the typing label shown while the AI is thinking (default, custom text, or AI-generated creative label).

### 6. Add logos and avatars

Upload your company logo to appear in the survey header. Set a custom avatar for the AI interviewer by choosing a preset (QuestionPunk, Robot, Assistant, Chat, Sparkle, Gradient) or providing a custom avatar URL.

### 7. Customize survey screens

In **Settings > Screen Customization**, personalize the **welcome screen** (title, description, logo, and start-button text), the **thank-you screen** (title, description, and optional redirect button with a custom URL), and the **closed-survey message** shown after the survey stops accepting responses. You can also rename the navigation buttons (next, back, submit) to match your brand voice.

### 8. Preview your brand

Use the live preview panel to see how your branding looks in real time before publishing.

Custom branding ensures your survey feels like a natural extension of your brand. Customize colors, fonts, bubble styles, input styles, logos, and streaming animations.

Use the **AI Design Generator** to describe your brand and let AI create a cohesive theme, or pick from built-in **theme presets** for a quick start.

Chat bubble styles include rounded, square, minimal, modern, and none. Font options include system, sans-serif, serif, monospace, and rounded. Input styles include rounded, square, minimal, underlined, and bordered. Send button styles include rounded, square, circle, pill, and minimal.

The **Card layout** toggle controls whether the survey is wrapped in a rounded card (default) or rendered edge-to-edge. Turn it off for a full-bleed, embedded, or immersive look.

Control how AI responses stream to respondents: raw (instant), word-by-word, or letter-by-letter. Customize the typing indicator label shown while the AI composes a response.

Choose from preset avatars (QuestionPunk, Robot, Assistant, Chat, Sparkle, Gradient) or provide a custom avatar URL for the AI interviewer personality. You can also customize the status dot color and visibility next to the avatar.

Set the default input mode for respondents: **text first** (typing with optional audio) or **audio first** (microphone with optional typing). This is useful for AI audio interviews where you want respondents to start speaking immediately.

The **Answer panel style** toggle controls how answer options are presented: **inline** (options appear in the chat flow) or **fixed** (options stick to the bottom of the screen for easier selection on long option lists).

Customize the welcome screen, thank-you screen, and closed-survey message in Settings. Add your logo, write custom copy, and set a redirect URL for after completion. Rename navigation buttons (next, back, submit) to match your brand.

Enterprise plans can remove QuestionPunk branding and add a custom domain for a full white-label experience.
