Group studies around one research question while preserving each study’s own responses and permissions.

## Before you start

Research projects is available only to enabled accounts and teams. If you do not see it, contact support to check access. Create a study first if you want to link existing work.

## Steps

### 1. Create a project

Open **Research projects → New project**. Enter a project name and, optionally, the research question. Choose **Create project**. New projects start private to you.

### 2. Link existing studies

Use **Add to project** from a study, or the project’s **Add** menu to link a QuestionPunk study you can open. Select the destination project and confirm. Linking creates a reference; it does not copy responses.

### 3. Set each source’s role

In **Sources**, distinguish **Evidence**, **Context** and **Both**. Use evidence for material that answers the research question and context for background. AI simulations stay separate and are never counted as people.

### 4. Review the project

Use **Overview** for the research question and source counts, **Sources** to open and manage linked studies, and **Recordings** to import and review transcripts. Response counts are records, not a deduplicated total of unique participants.

### 5. Keep access and archive behavior clear

Project sharing does not replace each linked study’s permissions. Someone without access to a study cannot read it through the project. Archiving makes the project read-only and moves it to Archived; linked studies stay intact. Restore the project to make it active again.

## Details

Use one research question to keep the project focused. Source roles affect how evidence is organized and counted; they do not turn simulated answers into human evidence.

## Check the result

Your project links the relevant sources and clearly separates human evidence, background context and simulations.

## If something goes wrong

If a source is restricted, ask its owner for access to the study itself. Unlink removes a source from the project without deleting the study or its responses. If controls are unavailable, check whether you have edit access and whether the project is archived.
