Default theme. Colors and fonts are yours to change.

You start the list. Friends add to it. Everyone votes.

  1. 1. Add your names. When you set up the poll, add the names you already like, or skip it. You can change your list in the editor any time.
  2. 2. Friends pick a style. Each friend picks girl or boy names and the styles they like: food, cute, funny, tough, pop culture and more.
  3. 3. They heart the ones they love. They get 8 ideas from real pet license records, with how common each name is. Hearted names join your poll, and anyone can type their own.
  4. 4. Everyone votes this or that. Everyone votes between pairs, your names and the ones friends added, then sees the top names so far.

How the poll works

  • Start with your names

Add the names you already like as you set up the poll, or later in the editor. They’re in the poll from the first vote. Or start with none.

  • Name ideas for every taste

Each person picks girl or boy names and styles like food, cute, funny, tough or pop culture, and gets 8 ideas from real pet license records with how common each name is.

  • Friends add names

The names people heart, or type in themselves, join your poll, so the list grows past your own.

  • This-or-that voting

Everyone votes between pairs of names, yours and the ones friends added. After voting they see the top names so far.

  • You decide what stays

Remove any name and it leaves the poll for everyone. Names that aren’t in the records wait for your OK.

  • No account for guests

Send one link by text, email or group chat. People answer in their phone’s browser, with no app to download and no account to create.

  • Free, unlimited responses

The Free plan takes as many responses as you get, with no credit card.

Frequently asked questions

What questions are in the “Pet Name Poll” template?

The template includes 3 ready-to-use questions, starting with: “🐾 Help us name our new pet! Add names you love, then vote between pairs.” · “Which name do you like better?” · “Anything else you want to tell us about the name?”. The full set is previewed above, and every question is editable.

Can I add my own names?

Yes. As you set up the poll, list the names you already like, or skip it. You can add, change or remove names in the editor any time. Your names and the ones friends add are voted on together, and the ones friends add are marked in your results.

Where do the name ideas come from?

From city pet license records in New York City and Seattle: about 18,700 names real dogs and cats have, from the most common to ones only a few pets share. AI picks the ones that fit each person’s styles. It can’t invent names and never makes up meanings.

Can people add their own names?

Yes, any name, however unusual. A name in the records joins the poll right away; anything else waits for you to approve it.

What if someone suggests a name I don’t like?

Remove it from your results. It leaves the poll for everyone and isn’t suggested again.

Do friends and family need an account?

No. They open the link in any phone or computer browser, with no app and no account.

Is it free?

Yes. The Free plan takes unlimited responses and needs no credit card.
