US ZIP code demographics, income and housing

American Community Survey 2020-2024 estimates for all 33,772 ZIP Code Tabulation Areas, in one wide table with plain column names and a margin of error next to every estimate.

Coverage: 33,772 ZIP Code Tabulation Areas in the 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. ACS 2020-2024 five-year release. Dollar values are 2024 dollars.

Why pay for public data

The Census API returns coded variables in narrow slices, and ZIP codes are not the same thing as the Census areas that approximate them. This is one ready-made table, with a margin of error beside every estimate, for $399 a year.

How it is built

  1. 1

Pull 23 ACS five-year tables, 325 source variables, for every ZIP Code Tabulation Area.

  2. 2

Rename coded variables to readable columns. The wide table has 63 estimates, 63 margins of error and 41 ready-made percentages. A long table keeps every source variable.

  3. 3

Add state, primary county, metro area, centroid and land area. Suppressed values stay empty and top-coded medians stay at the Census cap. Rebuilt on each annual release.

Questions

Is this data not free from the government?
Yes. The source files are public and we link to them. You pay for the cleaning, the joins, the documented schema and the refresh, not for the data itself.
How is it delivered?
As Parquet or CSV files, by download link or to your own cloud bucket. The same tables load into Snowflake with the scripts we include. A Snowflake Marketplace listing is being set up and is not live yet.
Can I see the data before paying?
Yes. Ask for a sample and we send the Vermont rows from every table, plus the full data dictionary.
